Homework - My Family Star

During the last meeting, your Brownie was given some homework... 

They started the Brownie Quest Journey and there are 3 keys they must find to complete the Quest -- they're working on finding the 1st key now. 

There are 3 steps that must be taken to finding the key: 

1. Discover her own talents and qualities. (Done!)
2. Learn the Girl Scout Law. (They're learning... it's long)
3. (The homework) Talk about the Girl Scout Law with her family and discover which part of the law is most important in her own family. And also to acknowledge the talents of each family member.

Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be

honest and fair,

friendly and helpful,

considerate and caring, 

courageous and strong, and

responsible for what I say and do, 

and to respect myself and others,

respect authority, use resources wisely, 

make the world a better place, and

be a sister to every Girl Scout. 

Each girl was sent home with an instruction page and a star.  I know that it was a few weeks ago and those papers might have made their way to the trash or lost among other stuff - so if that's the case, you can find a star on page 51 of the Brownie Quest book. 

Things to do with your Brownie:

• Read through the Law together. 
• What line of the Law is most important in your family?
• Why?
• Write your family's favorite line of the Law in the center of the star. 
• Discuss the people in your family and what special qualities or skills each member has. 
• Write their names in the points of the star and their special qualities and/or skills. 

The girls were encouraged to decorate it or even create their own. I know how crafty these girls are and excited to see what each girl creates. 

While the girls are on Thanksgiving break, this is a great time to complete this project!

About a week ago, we sat down as a family and read through the law together. We chose our favorite part of the law and wrote it in her book. We also talked about how each of us brings qualities and talents to our family and wrote those down too. 

Today, while at her grandparents, Charlotte created her own star using what we had previously talked about. And then decorated to her heart's content. 

 It's very important that they bring their star to our meeting on December 1st!!
 We will talk about each girl's star and then they will get their 1st badge. 
This is the final step to earning their 1st key.
