The Healthy-Living Family Activity was part of the Journey Quest; the girls are currently in the process of finding the 2nd Quest key.
The Connect Key: Each Girl Scout Brownie will connect as a member of a Brownie Team,
with her family on a healthy-living activity, and, as a group with their community to increase
healthy-living opportunities.
(We just have 1 more component to finding the Connect Key, which we'll focus on in March.)With the girls doing a lot self discovery, within the Journey Quest, we thought it would be a great time for them to dive into the legacy badge, My Best Self.
The required steps our girls took to earn this badge included: Creating a self-portrait and to share how they're unique, present 5 things that make them smile, eat & play in a healthy way and visit with a doctor about how their bodies work.
Dr. Leslie Wayne was our guest speaker for the meeting. She came with a portable EKG machine and had her son & Perrella place the EGK on them for a baseline heart rate and then rechecked after they ran around the room a few times. The girls LOVED seeing how much faster the EKG showed their heartbeats after the run! Dr. Wayne continued to talk about how each person is different... She had Corinne, Amy & I stand up together and have the girls see how neither of us look alike but that all 3 of us are healthy and should only focus on what makes us our best self, not to compare ourselves with others.
Her talk fit perfectly with what the girls are learning -- She really knocked it out of the ball park!
Next, we transitioned to cookies...
COOKIES were on everyone's mind, so the meeting wouldn't have been complete without exploring the world of Girl Scout Cookies!
With this being our 1st year, we started at Girl Scout Cookies 101 ;) and learned the names of each cookie.
We did this by playing Cookie BINGO ---
It was a lot of fun, but I had planned on multiple winners. However, we played one long game and Ella S. was our BINGO champ!
After they learned about each cookie, Tula helped demonstrate proper etiquette when selling cookies. She did a great job and the girls enjoyed watching her role play different scenarios.
To help each girl have confidence and build a solid skill foundation in her cookie sales, we used the Girl Scout 5 Skills model:
And because all of our girls are participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they earned the annual Cookie Activity pin. The pin recognizes the 5 Skills learned and practiced during the sale. Note: A different colored pin can be earned each year.

No homework was given out during this meeting so the girls could focus on their sales.
