In the Fall, the girls had painted a mural by using their handprints... We've converted their art into our troop Thank you cards and send them out to places they've visited or special guests that attend our meetings.
In addition to the mural, while the girls were working towards their Best Self Badge, they created a self portrait using paint and other craft supplies.
Our visit to the DMA was the final step in completing our Painting Badge...
We were very fortunate to time it with the Jackson Pollock exhibit! It was one of the best exhibits I've seen by far!!!
The museum was so kind with planning our visit and had asked a Docent to give us a guided tour... So she came on her day off to help our Brownies!
We learned about how Pollock's mood reflected in his work and how by viewing a painting, you can feel whether it's a calm, angry or happy by the colors and by strokes of paint.
(or splatters in Pollock's case ;)
The girls asked A LOT of questions but that's one of the reasons I love them so much! They're all VERY curious!
At the end of our tour, each girl was given different colored yarn and a piece of white paper to create their own Pollock-like masterpiece.
